Interpreten Portrat “Trio”

(left to right) Warut Supo (piano), Somphob Homsoi (violin), Jotamas Kolimas (flute).

Siam Music Yamaha Concert Salon.  Bangkok, Thailand.  July 23, 2013.  In smaller venues, it’s often possible to hear unfamiliar music of familiar composers, as well as composers who are either unknown or little known.  Thanks to three young talented Thai musicians, Warut Supo (piano), Somphob Homsoi (viola) and Jutamas Kolimas (flute), their July 23rd chamber recital was just such an occasion.  I thought I knew all of Schmann’s piano compositions, but I don’t remember ever hearing his Three Romanzen, Opus 28, as well as Handel’s Suite No. 6, both capably played by Warut Supo, who closed the first half of the program with an idiomatic performance of Bartok’s more familiar Six Rumanian Dances.  Amazingly, Warut returned to close the program by playing the recorder in a contemporary piece called “Music for Bird.”  The rest of the program was as interesting and enjoyable as was first half of the program, Warut’s solo recital.
